Welcome to The Locals Love It. Thanks for stopping by.
Since today is the big reveal day and I’m kind of nervous, I’ve decided to start with a brief overview of what the site is going to be about and what you can expect.
The Locals Love It was designed to give readers a glimpse into the lives of locals around the world. People who love living where they do. I don’t know about you but I love learning about other people, places and cultures. Only problem is I don’t have the time or money to go traveling right now. So while I wait to win the lottery, I’m going to explore the world through the eyes of other locals and I invite you to come along.
Each week (on Tuesday) this site will feature people and places from around the world. Some places you may have already been to and others you may have never realized you wanted to visit. Regardless, it will be fun to get the local insight into different areas and learn more about the people that live there.
For fun, I will also be collecting postcards. So please see the “Postcard” tab at the top of the site and feel free to send me a cool postcard from your city. I’ll be featuring them on the site as well.
I’ll start with the first post tomorrow. Being a Reno, NV local , I’ll share with you why I love living here. Then throughout the week I’ll post on other cool topics relating to people, places and traveling. Each Friday will feature “Friday’s Top 5″ and could be anything from the Top 5 reasons to wear sunscreen to the Top 5 kid friendly campgrounds.
But in honor of today being the big launch day, I ‘m giving away (2) 10 issue subscriptions to Budget Travel. Just answer the following question in the comments section by 12:00 pm PST on Wednesday to qualify. Winners will be announced on Thursday.
Question: Do you love the city you live in?
Budget Travel is not sponsoring this giveaway, I just really enjoy their magazine and website. Plus, who doesn’t like saving money on travel?
If you are interested in featuring your city on The Locals Love It, email me at myfavoriteplace[at]thelocalsloveit[dot]com
Thanks again for stopping by. Bookmark this page, share it with your friends and stop back often!
The site looks great!
Congrats.
Can’t wait for Friday’s top 5.
And yeah, I really love the city, and island,
I live in/on!
My city is Detroit. The weather sucks, unemployment is the highest in the nation, and racial tension is worse here than almost anywhere else. But we love each other, support each other, and I wouldn’t trade it. Can’t wait to share my city with you!
Congrats on the launch! I have two cities… Mendocino, CA which I know like the back of my hand and Santa Barbara, CA which I am just getting to know.
Congrats! This looks wonderful. I would be proud to comment on most of the places I have lived “like a local”.
Just browsing and I found this new site… I am a Chico local, but I can’t wait for people to start posting about their towns.
Very nice, I’m so proud of you.
I look forward to learning all about you and your life in Reno.
This is such a great idea…. I guess other than Mendocino, I’ll have to pick my most favorite city in the world! Santa Barbara, Ca.
Huzzah! You’re up and running!
I think that’s a trick question! I love WHERE I live, but not where I live. Does that make any sense? I love my home, most of my neighbors, where we like to go during our weekends, but not the area itself. Oy, I’m tormenting myself here.
Oh, I LOVE this idea! Very creative! Going to look for something I can send you right now.

Thanks so much for stopping by Monday’s Muse! Please do visit again soon!

When do we start writing? I just moved from San Francisco to Los Angeles. I’d be happy to share my knowledge of SF in exchange for some insight about LA. Anyone?
I’m also a born and raised Mendocino native. I do LOVE Mendocino. I currently live in Mooresville, NC (RaceCityUSA) and I LOVE it also!
Haha, I totally forgot to answer the question… yes, I love the city I currently live in, Santa Barbara. Don’t tell but… I love Mendo even more!!
Wow! Slick site. And a great idea. Such a great way to get under the surface of traveling and tourism; down to the heart, where the people really are.
